There are times when I really love living in Nashville. This was one of those times! I have been a fan of NGR and John Cowan for many years and have actually discovered many other artists because of Cowan mentioning he is a fan of their work, like Allen Toussaint. This guest artist at Cowan's Christmas show, Mike Farris, I discovered also because of Cowan. A while ago JC posted a blog on his myspace page praising Mike's CD, "Salvation in Lights!" Of course, when I read that I immediately went and bought Mike's CD cuz I knew it would be great. It is... So, when John and Mike recorded "Let's Make a Baby King" (a great song written by Jesse Winchester) on Cowan's new Christmas CD, "Comfort and Joy," I knew it was going to be fantastic...Well, that's an understatement, it's a home run with the bases loaded!! Cowan did a special show at the Country Music Hall of Fame yesterday and Mike came out to do the song with him....MAGIC! (They're having a good time and we get to go along for the ride...) I love those moments...which brings me full-circle to why I love living in Nashville sometimes.... :) Merry Christmas Cow and Farris fans!
