This is the home birth of my 2nd child, Eliot. My other child is 14 yrs old and after 10 yrs of infertility and then finally giving up on ever having another baby, I very surprisingly and very unexpectedly got pregnant! My labour started about 11 pm with contractions every 4 mins until about 2 am when they jumped to 2 mins apart. I called my midwife and doula about 2:30 am and they arrived just before 3 am along with my Mother and 2 close girlfriends. At 3:15 I was 6 cm dilated and labour was getting more intense so I got into the birthing pool and predicted Eliot would be born within the hour. He was born about 35 mins later. This whole experience was amazing, filled with laughter and sharing stories with all the women involved. It was a relaxing and beautiful experience. My 14 yr old daughter planned to deliver her baby brother but was a litte grossed out by the little bit of blood that was coming from my cervix when I got into the pool. She still had an amazing experience, even though she didnt actually deliver him. Eliot was born on Oct. 9th, 2010 at 3:55 am weighing 7 lbs 6.5 oz and 20.5 inches long.
