I'm not an U.S citizen and I also think that the democrats are more moderate. But the issue being that the parties are not cooperating. The two parties are so distinct that the voter ultimately looses.The GOP hasn't much to offer to the people so they will try to appeal to the population that doesn't agree with the democrats on some issues. And health care and gun control seem so unresolvable because of the private business interests that continue to plague the political system.

Dude, as someone living outside the US: the Dems ARE your moderates. You don't HAVE a real left-wing party; not the way the rest of us understand it. I'm not trying to be a jerk here--I literally know of conservative parties elsewhere that are to the LEFT of the Dems on some issues (notably health care and gun control). Seriously, I appreciate what Lev said, but if you could step outside yourselves for 5 minutes and see what MONSTERS the GOP are to the rest of mankind, you'd be shocked.

Thats the way the ruling class operates in any society. They try to divide the rest of the people. They keep the lower and the middle classes fighting with each other so that they the rich, can run off with all the money. Happens to work. Problem is you only have two sides and the extremes of both sides are always present in both parties. Need a third moderate party. A rather simplistic view but changing the balance of power might be a way to stabilize the country at a political level. AMERICA! BIPARTISAN! FUCK YEAH!
